I get a 6 AM wake-up call from a real, live La Quinta person, who asks me if she'd like me to ring back in 10 minutes "just in case." I decline, thank her and try to shake the sleep off.

I was reflecting last night as I fell asleep that I was at cross-purposes of the very message I was supposed to be absorbing here. In my earnestness to do a good job and capture all I could for readers, I was missing the moment--or at least I wasn't fully present for many of them. In running to 10-plus sessions yesterday, I was not in a full state of awareness, I was merely surviving.
