Becoming a Certified Feldenkrais Teacher

The Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education, developed by Moshe Feldenkrais (1904–1984), continues to grow in popularity. The purpose of Feldenkrais training is to improve movement and enhance functionality. The two main programs consist of group classes known as Awareness Through Movement® and private sessions referred to as Functional Integration®. In the group classes, an instructor leads students through a sequence of slow, gentle movements in a variety of positions: sitting or lying on the floor; and standing or sitting in a chair. In private sessions, the student performs a variety of movements tailored to his or her needs while the trainer offers guidance and tactile feedback.

Professional teacher training to become a certified Feldenkrais practitioner requires 780–800 hours of training and typically takes 3–4 years. For more information, go to www.feldenkrais.com.
