Pilates fights the post-holiday blues!

An easy way to get rid of the 'post-holiday' blues is to start a Pilates program. Pilates is easy enough to do before work, at a lunch break or right after work as it is non-evasive and although you will work hard you will not feel exhausted or spent after a 1 hour session. Instead you will feel uplifted, strong and ready to go on with your day. Also, the 'feel good' feeling that you get after a Pilates session will stay with you for hours and even days. Give it a try - you'll be surprised! :)

My co-workers are trying to get me to do pilates moves/poses throughout my work day. Is this a good idea?

Your co-workers are doing you a huge favor! Pilates is great for helping you with your posture and connecting movement with breath. Even though some of the moves might be difficult, just take your time and use the Pilates breath to help you contract the muscles that you need (the deep postural muscles such as the multifidi and the transversus abdominus) and relax the muscles that you don't need (upper back/traps and neck). Have fun with this and notice the improvements in your posture and your core!
